The M5 South Western Motorway crosses Belmore Road in Riverwood, however provides only an off-ramp for northeast-bound traffic, and an on-ramp for southwest-bound traffic. East-facing ramps were considered when the M5 West widening was planned. However, Roads and Maritime Services, in consultation with the motorway operator decided against the ramps because the resultant merge would have caused increased traffic congestion, especially during the morning peak.
